GMI is a joint venture project between Governments of Malaysia and Germany. It is a centre for advanced skills training
in the fields of Production Technology and Industrial Electronics. The project was launched in 1991 and GMI started its operation
in 1992.
The main objective of GMI is to support Malaysian industry by producing highly skilled technician/technologies in the
fields of Precision Engineering (Mould, Tool and Die, Product Design & Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electronics &
Information Technology, Process Instrumentation & Control and Network Security.
GMI graduates are expected to combine their theoretical know-why with practical know how in the design, manufacture, operation,
maintenance, fault analysis and repair of complex production plant, machinery, equipment, tools and the product being manufactured.
Core Business:
In line with its objective to train and upgrade the middle-level (semi professional) workforce for industry, GMI conducts
the following training programs:
Industrial Diploma (Full Time) target group are fresh school leavers/graduates from SPM, IKM, ITI or Polytechnics and
SKM Level 2 holder
Industrial Diploma (Part-Time) target group are current employees and potential entrepreneur
Short Courses (Day-Time/Evening/Weekends)target group are current employees and potential entrepreneur
Technical Seminars on current issues related to technology
Training the Trainers program
Industrial Projects GMI undertakes industrial projects commissioned by industry on a commercial basis. The types of project
vary from complete design, fabrication and testing of automated systems to the machining of parts.
